Our StoryIt all started back in 2007 when Sharne began high school and Craig, part of the Grade 8 initiation team, first laid eyes on her.
He remembers thinking she was unbelievably beautiful… and probably way out of his league. Over the years we knew of each other—mostly thanks to Craig’s brother being best friends with Sharne’s brother—but we were nothing more than acquaintances.
Fast forward to the URC Final of 2022 when the Stormers beat the Bulls (we’re both die-hard Stormers fans!). That night, Sharne kept Craig’s jacket safe, and we shared our very first dance to a Riaan Benade song. Craig couldn’t help but hope this was the start of something special.
Over the next two years, our friendship quietly grew. We went to movies, church, hung out with friends, and Craig played in LANs while Sharne was there with her friends. There was even one kiss along the way (purely for research purposes, of course).
Then one Sunday in church, Craig finally found the courage to take Sharne’s hand—and everything just clicked.A few weeks later, Craig went full “techie” and asked Sharne out with a PowerPoint presentation on why dating him would be a great idea. (Yes, slides were involved. Yes, they worked.) Seven months later, in the beautiful town of Clarens, Craig decided to propose.
In true Craig fashion, he led Sharne off the main path, through the brush, leaving her about 30 metres behind—just to get to a perfect little picnic spot. That’s where he asked the big question… and she said yes.And now, here we are, ready to celebrate the next chapter of our story together.
